Varadero - das ander Kuba! / the other Cuba!

Die letzten beiden Tage, und somit auch meinen Geburtstag, haben wir in Varadero verbracht. Ich habe mir einen Tag am Strand mit einem Moijto in der Hand gewünscht. Wo findet man dies eher als im Touristenparadies Varadero, haben wir uns gedacht. Falsch gedacht! Der Moijto war nicht als solcher zu erkennen. Das Hotel und der Stand waren jedoch wunderschön und konnten innig genossen werden.

The last two days - including my birthday - we spent in Varadero. I made a birthday wish for a day on the beach with a moijto drink in my hands. And we thought that the tourist paradise of Varadero is the right place for this. No, not quite right! The moijto could hardly be recognized as such - it was very bad . On the other hand, the hotel and the beach were beautiful and we enjoyed the two days greatly.

Aber beginnen wir doch mit der Fahrt von Havanna nach Varadero. Die Fahrt führte uns dem Meer entlang an wunderschönen Landschaften vorbei!

We have to begin with the road from Havana to Varadero. The road lead us along the sea shore. The landscape was great!

Von unserem Hotelzimmer aus zeigte sich uns diese tolle Aussicht. Leider waren wir am ersten Tag ungeschützt und oft draussen, so dass wir am Abend total verstochen waren. In Varadero gibt es wohl sehr viele Moskitos - und die hatten es alle auf uns abgesehen, vor allem am Morgen und Abend. Am Nachmittag ist es auch ihnen dann doch zu heiss

From our room, we had a great view. We spent a lot of time outside. Unfortunately, we had forgotten our mosquito repellent and in the evening we had been bitten a lot. In Varadero there are a lot of mosquitos - and they were all hungy for us, primarily in the evening and in the morning. During the afternoon it's better, these beasts apparently have a problem with the heat .

Natürlich haben wir die Sonnenuntergänge am Meer genossen. Achtung die Bilder sind sehr kitschig, aber es war wirklich so toll!!

Of course we enjoyed the sunsets on the beach. Caution, the photos are very kitschy, but it was really that great!

Die hoteleigene Echse haben wir auch kennen gelernt! Sie ist ziemlich gross (ca. 15 cm).

And we met the Hotel's own lizard! It was a pretty long thing (around 15cm)

Na also, das ist doch zum Geniessen!!

I/we enjoyed the days to the maximum!

Varadero ist eine Landzunge von Kuba. Hier reihen sich die all-inclusive Resortkomplexe aneinander. Varadero hat mit Kuba nicht viel gemein, doch der kilomenterlange, weisse Strand macht vieles wett.

Varadero is a peninsula of Cuba. Here, the all-inclusive resorts are lined up one after another. Varadero isn't 'real' Cuba, but the miles long stretches of white sand compensate for it!
