Playas del Este

Die letzten zwei Tage verbrachten wir in Playas del Este, dem Badestrand vor den Toren Havannas. Dieser Ort ist eigentlich nicht für Touristen gedacht, aber gerade deswegen hat er seinen Reiz. Hier befindet man sich mitten unter kubanischen Kurzurlaubern, die der städtische Enge für ein paar Stunden entfliehen wollen.

Gewohnt haben wir im Hotel "Las Terrazas". Die Zimmer sind mit Küche ausgestattet und sehr gross. Das beste aber, sie kosten nur einen kleinen Bruchteil von dem was die Hotels in Varadero kosten - und das erst noch mit real-Cuba-live! Kurz und bündig, es war genial! Einmal gab es anstatt schwarzen Bohnen mit Reis und Pommes - Pizza. Eigentlich mögen die Kubaner alles ein wenig weich, doch die Pizza war wirklich gut und wir haben die Abwechslung genossen.

The last two days we stayed in Playas del Este. This is the home beach of Havana, just a few kilometers from the city. This place is not really meant for tourists, but maybe that's the reason for its charm. One can find Real Cuban life here, with many families fleeing the hot city for a day on the beach.

We stayed in the Hotel "Las Terrazas". The rooms are all equipped with kitchenette and are very large. But best of all, they cost just a fraction of the hotels in Varadero - and with real-Cuba-live on top! Briefly, it was brilliant! Once, we went for pizza instead of black beans with rice and fries. The Cubans like their food very soft, but the pizza was really good and we enjoyed it.

Das Hotel hatte zwei Pools mit Pool Disco. Das ist das Verständnis der Kubaner von Urlaub. Mir persönlich war es zu laut. Aber nicht so schlimm, denn gleich über die Strasse befindet sich das Meer mit einem wunderbaren Strand.

The hotel had two pools with pool disco. That is the Cubans understanding of a short vacation. For me it was too loud. But not so bad, because just across the street there is the sea with a wonderful beach - very enjoyable!

Am Strand wurden wir von einem Polizisten darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass wir unsere Sachen unter keinen Umständen unbeaufsichtigt lassen sollen. Kein Problem, das machen wir nie... aber es ist gut zu wissen, dass so gut aufgepasst wird.

On the beach we were informed by a policeman that we should never leave our bags unattended under any circumstances. No problem, we never do... but it's good to know that a watchful eye is always around.

Die Abende waren ausgefüllt mir langen Spaziergängen am Meer. Dabei haben wir natürlich nach Muscheln gesucht und nach lohnenden Motiven für die Kamera...

The evenings were filled with long walks along the shore. We have of course searched for shells and for rewarding motifs for the camera ...

Es war traumhaft schön! Der Mojito schmeckt richtig nach Mojito - doch der Sangria war sogar noch besser , und das Flair ist sehr kubanisch und nicht verwestlicht! Rundum einfach nur herrlich!!

It was fantastically beautiful! The Mojito tastes likes a Mojito should - but the Sangria was even better , and the atmosphere is very Cuban and non-Westernized! Just all around wonderful!!
