Let down your hair Rapunzel!

Meine Tochter gab mir eine wirkliche knifflige Aufgabe. Ihre Kür im Eiskunstlauf ist "Rapunzel neu verföhnt". Frl. Zaubermaus liebt diesen Film und insgeheim ist es immer noch ein Traum einmal eine Prinzessin zu sein... wenn man nur nicht schon so alt wäre...

My daughter gave me a tricky job. Her freestyle figure skating music is from the new 'Tangled' (Rapunzel) movie. Miss magical mouse loves this film so much and secretly she still dreams of being a princess... if only she wasn't that old...

Die Vorgaben der Trainerin waren klar. Kein rosa darf in dem Kleid vorkommen, da der Kontrast zum Eis zu gering wäre.

The guidelines of her coach were clear. No pink for the dress, because you couldn't see this color on the ice.

Schon die Stoffsuche erlebte ich als eine Qual. Niemand bot den Stoff meiner Träume an, also musste eine Lösung her. Für den Rockteil hiess es färben. Einen Stoff in der Maschine, damit die Farbe schön kräftig wird und einen von Hand, damit seine Farbe mehr zu erahnen ist.

Already, the search for a suitable fabric was a torture. Nobody had the fabric that I wanted. I needed a great solution. For the skirt I colored the fabric. One fabric in the machine for a vivid color and a second one by hand, for a subtle color.

Danach ging es ans Schnittmuster erstellen. Eine Freundin hat mir mal einen tollen Schnitt geschenkt, und den habe ich kräftig verändert. Danach genäht, getrennt, Ideen verworfen und wieder genäht - also richtig kreativ gewesen und raus gekommen ist dieses Kleid:

Afterwards I had to design my pattern. A friend had given me this great pattern. I used this pattern and I made a lot of modifications. Then I sewed, cut, dismissed ideas and sewed again - I was very creative! But the result is worth it:
